GI BJJ
Gi (pronounced "ghee") Brazilian jiu-jitsu focuses on grappling with a particular emphasis on ground grappling while wearing the traditional training garment known as the gi, or kimono. The jacket and pants of the gi are made of heavy-duty cotton and are meant to simulate clothing worn during everyday life, while being more durable than regular wear. Emphasis is put upon manipulation of the gi for control of the opponent.
NO GI BJJ
No gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu also focuses on grappling with a particular emphasis on ground grappling, but is done without the traditional gi. Participants wear shorts or tights and a t-shirt or rash guard. The manipulation of an opponents clothing is prohibited, making gripping and control of an opponent more difficult than in the gi.
MUAY THAI
Muay Thai (literally “Thai boxing”) is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Participants should wear shorts and t-shirt and have their own boxing gloves. Classes consist of a warm up, fundamental technique, bag and pad work, shadow boxing, drills and conditioning.

KIDS CLASSES
Our kids program is separated by age (4-6 year olds in one group and 7-12 year olds in another) and focuses solely on GI BJJ. Initially your child will only require shorts and t-shirt, and it is always good to send them to class with a water bottle! Once they are committed to the program, a GI can be purchased at the academy.
"REP & ROLL" & "OPEN MAT"
A Rep & Roll class is one which features no teaching from an instructor. Instead, students have the first half of class to practice their own chosen techniques in order to improve their personal game. The second half of class consists of open rolling.
Open Mat is just that: the mats are open for students to roll or rep. Most open mat sessions consist exclusively of rolling rounds of 6 minutes with 1-1/2 minutes of rest between rounds. There is no formal instruction at open mat.
GUARD PASSING
Guard passing class focuses exclusively on techniques to pass the guard of an opponent. Classes consist of 20-25 minutes of technique and 35-40 minutes of guard passing drills. In guard passing the goal is for the person on top to pass the guard of the bottom player. Meanwhile, the bottom person is trying to gain top position.
